The Jug Shop Presents:

Israel v. California- A Cabernet Smackdown!

Join us for the 2nd in a "friendly" blind tasting series, pitting the best in boutique, family produced Israeli cabernets against their California counterparts. At 6p, our panel of judges will blind taste and rank the wines, then at 6.30p you'll have the opportunity to taste through the line-up and do the same. Then at 7.30p, we'll debag the bottles!

The panel of pro winos includes Murphy-Goode's famous new "lifestyle correspondent" Hardy Wallace (on Twitter as @goodetobefirst), St. Supery's new director of social media, Rick Bakas (on Twitter as @rickbakas), the ever-awesome wine director for Martini House in St. Helena, Mr. Rob Renteria (aka Robco or our personal fave, "yo, DUDE!"), and one of the best palates in the biz, the lovely Jennifer Knowles (aka Jenn), on break from her career in fine wine service as she bones up for the Master Sommelier exam. (Umm yeah, like Jenn needs to bone up.)

The tasting itself will feature 8 premium quality, boutique wines, 4 each from Israel and 4 from Cali, all based on the cabernet grape variety. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the wine regions of Israel (honestly, people- how often are you gonna hear THAT?) and to see how they stack up against some of the best wine names in California.  As the trade panel is tasting blind, we can't actually list the superstar wines we're pouring. So you'll have to come out to find out what's in store and mingle with some industry personalities over some great vino.
