The Music:

JL Stiles-

JL Stiles, a dazzling finger-picking guitarist and earthy, powerful singer is a rare breed in the indie folk scene, perhaps like a bluesy and slightly funky Nick Drake but really an enigma to those searching for a genre.  The Stiles trio, joined by Doug Ellington on the trumpet, is liable to paste many a perma-grin with a spunky brand of ragtime that loses none of the authenticity and fun.

“During the show, Stiles seems to fully engage the room with his music and humorous chatter. He closed the show with an impressive display that wowed the crowd, playing his six-string by tapping the frets with both hands to produce a dulcimer-like sound.”

Music Connection J.L. Stiles The Knitting Factory Hollywood

“While his fame is mostly local to Northern California and his audience is still very much the indie set, it seems likely that will change. He's shared stages with such luminaries as Keb' Mo' and Corey Harris, and it's easy to predict that Stiles' time in the spotlight--a gently glowing luminescence, to be sure--will come.”
Genevieve Williams, Blues Revue

Opening Acts-

Quinn Deveaux’s voice can ring of Ray Charles.  Yes, he's that good a singer and his brand of fun and danceable blues and folkways is fueled by his rhythmic guitar finger-picking.

Sean Garvey will bring a poetic and dusty, more country-tinged Americana to the stage.  Garvey’s soul-wrenching original album “California Parable” grew out of a love for America’s foremost singer-songwriters, including Hank Williams, Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt, and poets like Philip Levine.
