FIRST COURSE:
Pato Gratinado | duck breast on a tower of creamy potato gratin with aged cheese, served over a mirror of morilla chili sauce.
paired with
Carchelo Jumilla | (40% Monastrell, 40% Tempranillo, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon)
If you love French wines from the Cotes du Rhone, Carchelo Jumila is like one of those on red fruit steroids. A nearly opaque depth of color is set off by intense fruit aroma and velvety tannins, maintaining freshness and length. While monastrell wines are not common in America, they are made from a classic French grape varietal called mourvedre and present a massive spice and fruit bomb that, although being very youthful and present, are not obtrusive.
SECOND COURSE:
Filete al Tequila | beef tenderloin over a pool of tequila-truffle sauce, accompanied by a bell pepper, mushroom and serrano chili stuffed zucchini.
paired with
Mauro | (88% Tempranillo, 12 % Syrah)
Renowned winemakers Mariano and Eduardo García have earned a devoted following in Spain and beyond for their satisfyingly complex blends of toasted oaky notes and nuances of ripe fruit. Mauro shows its breed with a dark rich color, a gorgeous bouquet showing great class, and a perfect balance between the oak and rich black fruit. On the palate it has the smooth style, silky texture, and the distinction to rival a great Bordeaux Classified Growth.
THIRD COURSE:
Cordero Adovado | sweet potato and rosemary crusted rack of lamb in an adobo sauce with mint-marinated melon pearls.
paired with
La Rioja Alta 'Viña Alberdi Selecciòn Especial'
Touted by the LA Times as “one of the most respected of the traditional wineries in Rioja, Spain”, the 2001 is a full-bodied red, Tempranillo gentled by two years of aging in the barrel and more in the bottle. Cherry red color with a medium robe, clear and brilliant with elegant pink tones on the edge of the glass. Remarkable bouquet, reminiscent of ripe fruit with gentle hints of cinnamon, caramel and coconut. Pleasant and well-structured to the palate, very well-balanced with a pleasing final acidity.
