Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

This summer let’s take a tour of Europe, without the hassles of flying or airport body searches…let’s do it with wine!  This week, we’ll be tasting samples of European winemaking with:

2005 RICCOLO GRASSI – SOAVE SUPERIORE, VERONA, ITALY

Made with 100% Garganega grapes and with aromas of white flowers, yellow fruits and garden herbs.  The palate is clean, zesty, and crisp with flavors of honeysuckle, lemon, and white peach.  Beautiful Italian white.

2007 SIMONNET FEBVRE – “SAINT BRIS” SAUVIGNON BURGUNDY, BURGUNDY, FRANCE

From the only appellation in Burgundy allowed to make white wine from the Sauvignon Blanc grape.  Very fresh and intense, with zesty lemon hints, grassy nose, very creamy textures and flavor.  French elegance.

2007 ALMIRA – “LOS DOS” GRENACHE/SYRAH, CAMPO DE BORJA, SPAIN

A fruit-forward blend of Grenache and Syrah, perfect slightly chilled and by the poolside.  Beautiful soft texture and very little tannins, great for those just beginning to drink red wines.

2007 CHATEAU DE JAU – “LE JAJA DE JAU” VIN DE PAYS, FRANCE

In the French Mediterranean coast, “Jaja” is slang for the region’s delicious, full-flavored, everyday wines.  A peppery red, smoky kirsch/blackcurrant and herbs de Provence aromas grace the nose.  Well balanced tannins and acidity along flavors of raspberries on the palate.  Could become your new everyday wine!!

2005 CHATEAU CAMPOT-LAFON – BORDEAUX, BORDEAUX, FRANCE

A great vintage and a supple blend of 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc make up this wine.  A mellow, fruit forward Bordeaux with none of the harsh tannins or astringency often associated with the region.

n/v KOPKE – FINE RUBY PORTO, DUORO, PORTUGAL

From the oldest exporter of Port, founded in 1638 and making award winning ports since. Even the bottles are still hand-stenciled to this day.  This Ruby port is smooth and elegant and balanced.   Fruity and young bouquet and if you prefer the flavor of berries to that of chocolate, this port is for you.
