An Evening of Cheese and Wine Pairing!

Interested in a night of some fabulous cheese and wine pairings? Curious as to which cheeses go with sparkling wines? Which is better with blue cheese- port or sauternes? What other foods go well on a cheese plate?
To answer these questions and more, join chef/wine instructor Cynthia Bloebaum on Wednesday 8/26 for a tasting of 9 wines and cheeses. The cheeses will be an array of styles and tastes; soft, hard, creamy, sheep, cow, goat's milk, washed rind, blue; the wines will be sparkling, white, rosé, red and dessert. As an added extra, the wines will all be sourced from wineries and stores located in the East Bay; the cheeses will come from the Cheese Board in Berkeley. There will be harmonious other foods that accompany the cheeses to delight your palate. Chef Cynthia will discuss both classic and innovative pairings and offer recipes, extensive notes and suggestions that can guide you to a whole world of discovery.
There will be a casual wine pouring afterwards if you wish to linger and mingle.
Time: 6:30- 9:00 ( approximate)
Place: the atrium of Telegraph Lofts, 2633 Telegraph Av. in Downtown Oakland. Plenty of street parking.

Cynthia Bloebaum is a San Francisco Bay Area chef and wine instructor whose love and enthusiasm for food and wine led to her studying the field of epicurean arts in Europe and California. She has cooked at and been chef for numerous San Francisco restaurants throughout her 25 year career. Bloebaum has been the chef for wine classes at UC Berkeley Extension and has taught numerous wine classes for that institution. She has taught wine classes for Northern California’s Whole Foods stores, and teaches food and wine classes at San Mateo Community College. She also conducts her own classes on regional foods and wines of numerous wine growing areas, leads food and wine excursions throughout the world, caters wine themed events and parties, and is an accomplished caterer, speaker, cooking instructor, wine trainer, wine judge and consultant.
