Wine OR Wine & Food

The Wine Society Book Club combines books about wine with a related wine tasting. Each month we will feature a book and select wines that are mentioned in the story or that complement the book’s topic. Whether you read the book, listen to it on tape, or just enjoy an excuse to sample wines, this is an opportunity to expand your knowledge about wine in a stimulating, fun atmosphere. The cost of each book club meeting is $25; the actual number and type of wines will depend on the number of attendees.

On September 17, 2009 we will discuss the book “The House of Mondavi: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty” by Julia Flynn Siler, $15 paperback. With the passing in 2008 of one of the icons of the California wine industry, Robert Mondavi, we chose this book to explore his legacy. We will select wines from wineries that have direct ties to various members of the Mondavi family: Charles Krug, Robert Mondavi Winery, Oberon and perhaps a surprise or two.
