Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

You might know it as Grenache, in Spanish as Garnacha, in Catalan it is called Garnatxa.  It is one of the most planted varietals of grapes in the world.  Here at Anne’s we call it delicious; which is why this week we’ve chosen to honor this modest wonder of a grape with its own tasting.  This week we will share with all attending wines made with this fabulous little grape.  In this tasting you’ll enjoy:

2007 Jean Luc Colombo – “Les Abeilles” Cotes du Rhone Blanc, Rhone, France

Made with 70% Grenache blanc, the rest is Viognier and Roussanne.  Plump aromas and flavors with pink grapefruit and melon notes backed by a soft finish.

2008 Paul Jaboulet Aine – “Parallele 45” Cotes du Rhone Rosé, Rhone, France

A beautiful and aromatic blend of Grenache, Cinsault, and Syrah.  Named after the 45th parallel which runs through the vineyards where the grapes were grown.  Spicy, fruit driven aromas, dry and a bit of herbs on the palate, fantastic French Rosé.

2007 Epicurean – “Bistro” Grenache, McLaren Valley, Australia

100% Grencache The grapes were sourced and the wine made by Stephen Pannell who has access to some of the best vineyard sites in McLaren Vale. The wine hasn’t seen a lick of oak allowing the vibrant fruit character of the Grenache to shine through.

2007 Altovinum - Evodia ~ Calatayud, Spain – A knockout value wine!!  100% Garnacha, from famed importer Eric Solomon.

2005 Charles Cimiky – “Trumps” Grenache/Shiraz blend , Barossa Valley, Australia

72% Grenache and 28% Shiraz aged 15 months in old French oak. It is a full-bodied, powerful, amazingly flavorful wine. This seamless blend is rich, voluptuous, generous and superbly balanced.  Wine Advocate 89 pts.

2007 Holly’s Hill – Grenache Noir – El Dorado, California

A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Pinot Noir, this wine's weight felt exceedingly good in the mouth, especially coupled with those strawberry and floral flavors  Lasting tannins in the mouth with a fruity, easy finish
