Featuring Australia's Robert Oatley Vineyards

Credited with pioneering Australian wine to the rest of the world, Robert Oatley is the former owner of Rosemount Estate, for several decades one of the most recognized and successful family-owned Australian wineries. His success with chardonnay put Rosemount on the world wine map and his success with shiraz, especially in the US, was instrumental in establishing that variety as a permanent feature on wine lists and retail shelves in America.

His latest venture, Robert Oatley Vineyards, builds on Bob's forty years of experience in crafting market-leading Australian wines. While his success at Rosemount found him stationed in the Hunter Valley, Robert Oatley Vineyards is centered in the Mudgee region, approximately 162 miles northwest of Sydney on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range in New South Wales. The range runs the north-south length of Australia and separates the Hunter on the east coast from Mudgee, which is cooler, higher and drier. Varieties planted in the area include shiraz, chardonnay, and cabernet, with sangiovese and barbera now growing in popularity. Mudgee is derived from the aboriginal word for the region, translated as "The Nest in the Hills".

Join us on Thursday for another in our very popular Twitter Taste Live series, featuring the sustainably farmed Robert Oatley Vineyards! We'll be tasting Bob's Pinot Gris, Rosé, Cabernet-Merlot and Shiraz. Those with a Twitter account should also register at TasteLive.com (it's free!) if you wish to fully participate in this nationwide tasting event. We'll be running the tweet stream on the big screen and WiFi will be accessible on the night.

$5 from each tasting fee collected will be donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society via Team In Training.
