As the 2007 Chateauneuf du Papes get closer to arrival
in the late summer I am getting more and more excited. Seldom is there as
much anticipation as there is for the arrival of this magnificent vintage.
Parker declares 2007 "the greatest vintage I have tasted in my thirty
years working in that region". Now that being said, I have
taught you to run the other direction, however I have to agree with just the
limited wines I have tasted from a few producers. They are nothing short
of spectacular. I have marveled at the power of these 2007s, and uniformly noted
the freshness and intense concentrated fruits, making this an ideal vintage for
aging. These wines have everything you expect from great Chateauneuf -
incredible elegance with full-bodied palates, glorious noses of roast meats and
provincial herbs, subtle notes of truffles, licorice and spices. SAVE YOUR
MONEY! Lots of favorites this night, Janasse, Marcoux, Sabon,
Giraud and others....
