Kathryn Hall Wine Dinner at Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits

Bern's Fine Wines & Spirits will host a six-course wine dinner on August 20, 2009, featuring Chef Chad Johnson’s Mediterranean cuisine paired with the wines of Kathryn Hall Winery.

Special guest, Richard Reeves, from the winery, will guide guests through an evening of six Kathryn Hall wines, including the highly limited 95-point rated “Bergfeld” Cabernet Sauvignon.

Located in the St. Helena area of Napa Valley, Kathryn Hall Winery has built a reputation for crafting world class Cabernet Sauvignon.  During the dinner, three different Cabernet Sauvignons along with Hall’s Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and the rare Hall Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc (only 610 cases produced) will be tasted.

The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. and is $125.00 per person, all inclusive and reservations are requested. Please call Bern’s Fine Wines & Spirits at (813) 250-9463 to reserve or purchase tickets online at www.bernsfinewines.com .

Featured Wines for the Dinner

2005 Kathryn Hall "Bergfeld" Cabernet Sauvignon $105.95

This is one of those Napa Cabs that tastes glamorous. Even people who know little about wine will taste it and go, Wow. And the longer it sits in the glass and airs, the better it gets. Bone dry, soft and smooth, it shows luscious black currant, plum, sage, spice and cedar flavors, wrapped into finely ground tannins that will enable it to age for a decade."  95 Points Wine Enthusiast

2005 Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon $69.95

"The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as sweet, tarry, black currant, and chocolate notes with hints of wood smoke and spice box... It should drink beautifully for 15 or more years."  92 Points Robert Parker

2005 Hall Cabernet Sauvignon $29.95

“The 2005 HALL Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon shows rich, concentrated aromatics of currant, blackberry, and ripe cherry complemented by hints of toasty oak. Flavors of leather and nutmeg coalesce with plum and vanilla in the concentrated mid-palate and settle into a seductive, chewy finish. This wine is ready to enjoy now and will continue to mature and evolve for the next 7-10 years.”  Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

2005 Hall Merlot $29.95

“Our 2005 Napa Valley Merlot is sourced from two of our premiere estate vineyards, Napa River Ranch and Hardester. The Hardester vineyard, with its rugged, low-yielding hillside vines, produces fruit with weight, density and broad structure. By contrast, the dry-farmed valley floor vines of Napa River Ranch contribute rich fruit with lively aromatics and a plush mouth feel. A small amount of fruit from renowned sub-appellations beyond our vineyard portfolio further enhances the depth and complexity of this harmonious blend. Intense aromatics of cedar oak are accented by scents of roasted coffee beans and a hint of violets and roses. An open, textured palate of ripe briar fruit, dusty mocha and black pepper -finishes with a surge of plum and soft tannin.”  Winemaker’s Tasting Notes

2008 Hall Sauvignon Blanc $14.95

“Intensely mouthwatering, with peach and tangerine flavors that are ripe and juicy, with a pleasant, fragrant orange blossom note.”  88 Points Wine Spectator

2005 Hall Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc

“This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is of the Musque clone, planted at our Nap River Ranch. In the Sauterne-style, we left the fruit on the vines until well over-ripened and harvested them in November at 34.6 Brix. The high sugar content and botrytised quality translate into a wonderful richness and honeyed viscosity. Apricot jam on toast, rich honeyed fig and butterscotch glide onto the palate and settle into a long concentrated finish. This is an unctuously textured wine with a pure, bright mid-palate and sweet, silky-oak finish.” Winemaker’s Tasting Notes
