Get out of the Heat and Enjoy the Kirkwood Wildflower Festival!
Get out of the valley heat and drive up to Kirkwood for a cool day of some wonderful activities. One of Kirkwood’s favorite summer events, the Wildflower Festival features wine and beer tasting from regional producers, live music, a collection of regional artisans displaying their work, and pony rides, bounce house and more for the children. Guided hikes, scenic chair rides, and an afternoon BBQ will be available on the Village Plaza. Entry to the festival is free. Purchase tickets for wine and beer tasting and receive a commemorative glass. A percentage of ticket sales from the festival benefit the Sugar Pine Foundation to plant seedlings for forest restoration projects.
Enjoy activities before, during, and after the festival:
1) Wine & Beer Tasting from 12 to 5 pm: $20 with commemorative glass (10 Wineries & 5 Breweries). Tickets will only be sold at the event.
· Wineries: Casque Wines, Holly’s Hill, Calibri Ridge, Bray Vineyards, Gold Note Winery, Terra d’Oro Winery, Lone Madrone, Sobon Estate, Shenandoah Vineyards, Tablas Creek Vineyard, and Zenaida Cellars.
· Breweries: Mt. Tallac, Lagunitas, Deschutes Brewery, Black Diamond, Sacramento Brewing Company
2) Barbecue Meal from 12 to 5 pm: Available for purchase
3) Guided Hikes from at 9am and 12pm: $25 per person to be guided by author and expert on flora and fauna in Kirkwood, Laird Blackwell. Spots fill up fast. Visit the events page at www.CasqueWines.com for the link to reserve your space.
4) Ride the Cornice Express Chairlift from 10am – 2pm: $10 will take you to the top of Kirkwood for a scenic view of the wild flowers and snow on the mountain tops. Tickets may be purchased at the Summer HQ desk in Red Cliffs and the Season Pass Office on the Plaza, and cash only at the base of Chair 6.
5) Music at Kirkwood Chamber Music Festival at 7:30 pm: Donations are accepted at the door. The Chamber will present a concert after the Wildflower festivities at 7:30 pm in the KCA Red Cliffs Club. If you have not yet listened to chamber music performed by top-caliber Bay Area musicians as the sun sets over the valley, you are in for a treat. For more information, see www.musicatkirkwood.com.
