Wine OR Wine & Food
Wine Blends are fantastic wines made from different grapes in order to add more complexity to the flavor and texture of a wine. Some wine blends are made from classic recipes handed down from generation to generation. Other vintners create brand new blends to produce an exciting wine that has flavor characteristics like nothing else on the market. This Saturday we pour 4 examples of what wine blending can accomplish. Also, if you didn’t get a chance to meet Irene Engard and Anita Brace, our featured artist of the month, join us as they will be in the shop and this is the last week of their photographs on our walls.
Join us this Saturday as we pour:
2007 Yarden – Mount Hermon White, Galilee, Israel
Israel also enjoys weather that is perfect for wine production! This lovely blend is made from Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and a bit of Semillon. Tropical fruit notes and a silky texture on the palate, and it’s Kosher too!
2008 Boekenhoutskloof – The Wolftrap, Franshoek, South Africa
A fantastic blend made from Syrah, Mouvedre, and a touch of Viognier. Loaded with aromas of blackberries, smoke and a bit of pepper. Perfect with BBQ chicken.
2005 Tenuta Rapitala – Nuar, Sicily, Italy
A perfect summer red blend of Nero D’avola and 30% Pinot Noir. With notes of dried fruit, tobacco and spice. The palate is a beautiful balance of acidity, tannins and fruit. Fantastic as your new Pizza red!
2006 Kokomo – Cuvee, Sonoma County, CA
50% Cabernet Franc, 40% Petite Sirah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Bordeaux meets Rhone in a different fashion. Instead of the typical cabernet sauvignon/syrah blend, this is a combination of cabernet franc and petite sirah,
and boy is it dark and delicious.
