We recreate Il Palio di Siena this Saturday at Three Fox Vineyards. 

The Palio is a horse race held twice each year in July and August in Siena, Italy.  In the race, ten horses and riders, dressed in the colors of their Contrada (city wards), race around the Piazza del Campo bareback, while the residents and fans of each contrada cheer them on.

So, how do we recreate that?  Well, we’ll be marking off our version of the track and open it up to any ‘jockeys’ who would like to race!  We’ll provide the ‘hobby’ horse and the colors of the contradas.  The jockeys will race around the track while the fans pick their favorite jockey and cheer them on!  All ‘jockeys’ get a 15% discount on wine just for racing and the winning jockey wins a $50 cash prize!!

But we don’t forget the fans!  The fans pick the horse they are going to cheer for and if a fan’s horse wins, the fan gets a 10% discount on wine too!

The races will run at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm and the $50 cash prize and discounts will be awarded for each race!
