THIS DAY OF ROCK CLIMBING AND WHISKEY TASTING is for adventuresome New Yorkers of all levels. No experience necessary. But if you have climbed before, there will be pitch routes available from 5.1 to 5.8, 100 ft. high.
Don’t worry, we are drinking after the climbing!During this introductory class, you will learn all the fundamentals. We will learn about climbing equipment, how to use it properly, climbing commands and techniques, rappelling and safety steps. You will have ample time to practice and enjoy the view from the top. All technical equipment is included. All you need is a desire to climb.
If you are an experienced climber, there are plenty of more challenging pitches to wear you out.
You will burn hundreds of calories and gain skills and confidence as you change your course throughout the day. We will spend a full five to six hours climbing.
AFTERWARD, we will drive to New York State’s only whiskey distillery that is open to the public, where we will tour the distillery and sample whiskeys and vodkas. Raise a glass of the strong stuff to celebrate your rock prowess!
For 220 years this gristmill, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, used waterpower to render local grains to flour. In 2001 it was converted one of the mill granaries to a micro-distillery. The partners worked tirelessly to teach themselves the craft of small-batch distillation while navigating the legal and administrative aspects of building the company.
Join us for a unique day of exercise and fun!
