Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

If you were ever asked what was the most quintessential thing about Australia and New Zealand, wine probably wouldn't be the first thing that jumps to mind. But for many wine aficionados, wine is something that we have enjoyed and continue to explore and discover -- behind kangaroos and boomerangs of course.  Australia alone is home to an estimated 3,000 wineries and New Zealand is producing what is considered the benchmark for Sauvignon Blanc.  And there really are better alternatives to Yellow Tail.

This week at Anne's we pay New Zealand and Australia a visit through our palate with the following wines:

2008 FOREFATHERS - SAUV BLANC - MARLBOROUGH, NEW ZEALAND
Light, crisp, aromas of lemongrass and tropical fruit.  A fantastic summer white!

2008 CORALOOK - PINOT GRIS - VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
Complex aromas of honey, pear and spice are complimented on the palate by sound structure with a clean crisp finish.

2007 ANNIE'S LANE - CHARDONNAY - CLARE VALLEY, AUSTRALIA
Aromas of peach and melon at the forefront of this wine.  Lightly oaked , complex and creamy palate.

4th wine will be poured blind.

2008 CORALOOK - PINOT NOIR -
An elegant Pinot that exhibits aromas of fresh dark berry fruits and hints of mint.  The structure is lush with a fine dry finish

2006 KANGARILLA ROAD - CAB SAUVIGNON - MCLAREN VALLEY, AUSTRALIA
Lots of dark fruit aromas and fantastic lush flavors.  Elegant finish.

N/V THE BLACK CHOOK - SPARKLING SHIRAZ - MCLAREN VALLEY, AUSTRALIA
Powerful raspberry and blackberry on the nose, with a subtle floral accent. Sweet red and dark berry flavors are braced by zesty minerality and flesh out with air.  A red sparkling wine that will definitely impress you

On Friday, we'll pour 7 wines.   $15.00 / $10.00 Anne's Wine Club Members
