2008 Domaine des Cassagnoles, Vin de Pays des Cotes de Gascogne     $11
Where: Cotes de Gascogne, France
Grape: Blend of Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Gros Manseng and Sauvignon
Located in southwest of Bordeaux, vines were cultivated in the region of Gascony since the Middle Ages. For medicinal purpose, wines were distilled and called a "water of life" as early as 15th century under the influence of monks and monasteries. The vineyards of Domaine des Cassagnoles were primarily used for the production of Armagnac until 1980. Today the estate makes a wide range of white, rose, and red wines from seven grape varieties. This wine was made from a unique blend of four varieties, offering fresh grapefruit, exotic tropical fruit notes, along with refreshing citrus acidity and mineral undertone. For those who enjoy crisp white wines of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, this "Winestone Summer Favorite White" would make a great alternative.

2008 Xarmant Txakolina   $15
Where: Arabako Txakolina, Spain
Grape: Blend of 80% Hondarribi Zurri and 20% Hondarribi Zurri Zerratia
Originally enjoyed only by Basque kings and aristocrats, Txakolina is a white wine from the Basque country made predominantly with the indigenous grape called Hondarribi Zurri. There are currently three D.O. regions for Txakolina and they are: Arabako, Getariako and Bizkaiko. This Xarmant Txakolina is from the Arabako region. "Xarmant" means "charming", reflecting the personality of the wine and you'll know why once you taste it! Fermented in stainless steel, it exhibits lively mix of white peach, pear, and berries with a squeeze of citrus acidity. Dressed in a bright green bottle with a star and sun as a label, this is a fantastic summer wine that can be enjoyed under the sun on hot days with grilled seafood, or under the twinkle stars of beautiful warm nights with Spanish tapas!

2008 Azienda Perazzeta, Sara Bianco            $12
Where: Tuscany, Italy
Grape: Blend of 40% Trebbiano, 40% Chardonnay, 10% Malvasia and 10% Sauvignon Blanc
Tuscany is Italy's 5th largest region filled with fascinating art, architecture, history, landscape, food and wine. Taking its name from "sangue di Giove", or blood of Jove - the Roman King of the Gods, Sangiovese is the main red grape variety here producing famous wines of Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino. However this region is also capable of producing some excellent white wines as well and here is a bottle to prove it! Nestled in a small town of the Val d'Orcia, Azienda Perazzeta was founded by Alessandro Bocci in 1998. Alessandro's daughter, Sara along with a renowned enologist, Fabrizio Moltard created this novel blend from two of classic Italian varieties (Trebbiano and Malvasia) and two of classic French varieties (Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc).

2001 Taurino, Notarpanaro, Salento            $19
Where: Puglia, Italy
Grape: Negroamaro
Meaning "black and bitter", Negroamaro is a dark-skinned southern Italian grape, especially popular in the region of Puglia. Founded by Cosimo "Mimmo" Taurino, Taurino winery has been a symbol of the winemaking revolution in Salento, producing reasonably priced wines with high quality. Although Cosimo passed away in 1999, his wife Rita, son Francesco and daughter Rosanna are working hard to produce authentic Puglian wines honoring legacy of "Mimmo". What makes this wine extremely special is that it was aged in French oak for 3 years, followed by additional 3 years in bottle before the release. Displaying elegant and complex bouquet of ripe red berries, tobacco, licorice and spice, this Notarpanaro is a bottle of delightful surprise!

2007 La Posta, Cocina Blend
Where: Mendoza, Argentina
Grape: Blend of 60% Malbec, 20% Bonarda, and 20% Syrah
"Posta" or tavern was where many Argentinean vine growers drank wine and spoke passionately about their soils, vines, and quest for superior flavors in their grapes. Made with those high quality grapes, cultivated by those passionate growers, this "cocina" or kitchen blend consists of Malbec, Bornarda, and Syrah. Aged 10 months in 70% French and 30% American barriques, with 20% new, this wine showcases smooth and dense fruit of black cherry and raspberry, complemented by mocha and sweet baking spices. Coming from the highest beef consuming country in the world, this would be a perfect wine for steakhouse favorites. A bottle of this with friends and family, along with a meal cooked in your "cocina" will transform your place into a "posta"!

2006 Pierre Laplace, Madiran Lapalce            $17
Where: Madiran, France
Grape: Blend of 80%Tannat, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc
Receiving an A.O.C. status in 1948, Madiran is a red wine appellation located in the heart of Gascony in South West France. The soil here is mainly clay and limestone and deeply colored and tannic Tannat is the traditional variety. Although you may never heard or tasted wine of Madiran, its history dates all the way back to the Middle Ages and it was enjoyed by pilgrims en-route to Santiago de Compostela. The Laplace family, who also owns Chateau d'Aydie, is one of the most respected producers in the area and Fredrick Laplace in fact was one of the pioneers to bottle Madiran and sell them under his own name. In order to suit modern palate, this wine is blended with 20% each of Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, showing concentrated black fruit of plum, cassis and black cherry partnered by structural tannins.
