Wine OR Wine & Food

Italy has a rich and ancient history that has touched or influenced most civilizations on the globe. Beginning with the earliest settlements of the Etruscans, moving through the time of the Romans, and into the Age of Enlightenment and the Renaissance, Italy was a key shaper of modern day Europe. As one of the most powerful nations in the world, Italy has bestowed many gifts upon the world, not the least of which is the gift of wine. In this class we will take a trip through Italian history, linking each major milestone to wines of particular meaning or significance. Ten wines will help tell the story of Italy's storied past, including reds, whites, sparklers and sweet dessert wines - a selection as significant as the country herself!

Instructor: Paul Malagrifa, CSW, CWE, CSS
Paul J. Malagrifa is a certified wine educator who has been pursuing his passion for wine for the last 20+ years. Paul began making his own wine from grapes grown in the Finger Lakes region of New York and this hobby in turn spurred him to begin collecting and studying the wine making of others. Paul was a member in a local master of wine tasting group, was featured on TV's Chronicle, and is currently the host of Musings on the Vine, a wine appreciation website. Paul writes, teaches, and lectures on the topic of wine appreciation, and conducts regular classes and seminars in the greater-Boston area.
