Wine OR Wine & Food
On Tuesday, July 21, Bistro Provence, one of Houston’s first and finest French bistros featuring the unique foods of Provence, will host a very special wine dinner highlighting the rose wines from one of France’s finest and oldest wine producing areas.
The dinner, created by newly appointed Executive Chef Ryan Hildebrand, will introduce five rose wines from the Bandol region in Provence with a five-course French Provence menu.
The dinner will take place at Bistro Provence, 13616 Memorial Drive near Wilcrest in West Houston,, beginning at 7 p.m. The cost per person is $65 plus tax and gratuity.
Bandol grapes are grown on vines located in the hills between La Ciotat and Toulon, facing the Mediterranean Sea. Bandol is one of the oldest vineyards in France with vines having been planted there by the Romans 2,500 years ago. And with Marseille’s port close by as well as the special characteristics of the full body red wine, bottles from Bandol had already appeared as far away as India and Brazil two centuries ago.
Bistro Provence is, as its name implies, a restaurant that features the foods, ingredients and cooking styles of France's famed region of Provence. The Bistro, which opened in early 1998, is located at 13616 Memorial between Wilcrest and Kirkwood. For reservations, call 713-827-8008 or email bistro_provence@sbcglobal.net.
