These classes were featured in the Wall Street Journal article "Learning the Ropes about Vines."

Class 5 : Wine regions - Focus France

The weekly wine classes will be held at the Warwick Hotel, 401 Lenora Street in Downtown Seattle. Parking at $2.50 can be validated

for the hotel garage (free if you dine at Margaux).

A series of seven classes, including wine tastings of at least 6 wines during each class, will be offered for $45 per class or $275 for all 7 classes per person. Advance registration is recommended.

Topics covered throughout the 7 class series will be:

- how to taste wine and describe it

- grape varietals and their characteristics

- history of wine

- basics of the vineyard and of winemaking

- wine flaws

- overview of the world's wine regions

- in-depth coverage of Washington, California, Italy, Australia, Spain

and France

- matching wine and food

- trends in wine
