Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

Yowza! It's certainly hot outside. With temperatures hovering around 100 degrees, it's a great time to get away from South Florida for cooler climes, if you are able.

But, for the rest of us masochists, our July LaBORatory Night provides some incentive to stick around. And since it's the month to celebrate Bastille Day (July 14,) we'll be going French (or French-American, at least) at Hollywood's hot, new Sage Bistro & Oyster Bar, under the direction of Chef/Owner Laurent Tasic, where we'll have our own private room to facilitate the sharing of wine and our usual controlled rowdiness.

We hope that you will join us on Monday, July 20 for a great meal, plenteous wine and festive camaraderie as Sage Bistro offers us the following special price-fixe menu:

~1st Course ~

Salade Maison
Specially prepared tossed salad with mixed greens

or

Soup du Jour

~2nd Course ~

Choice of:

Coq au Vin
Cornish Hen cooked in red wine with pearl onions & mushrooms Seerved with roasted new potatoes and vegetables
or
Chef Laurent’s Meatloaf
Ground veal and filet mignon with fresh herb, mushroom, garlic, merlot sauce

Served with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables

or
Pistachio Crusted Tilapia
Fresh Florida Tilapia crusted with pistachio with lemon dill sauce

Served with saffron rice and fresh vegetables

~3rd Course ~

Chocolate Layer Cake
With Raspberry Sauce

or

Creme Brulee

~~~~~~~~~~~~
LaBORatory Night (so called for its experimental spirit and pronounced La-BOHR-atory... think Boris Karloff in the old Frankenstein movies) is an ongoing tradition of more than eighteen years, born at the now defunct but never forgotten Biscayne Wine Merchants Bistro in North Miami. Our ragtag crew of wine drinkers continues to meet about once a month, always on a Monday night, as an alternative to watching Monday Night Football.
Our now itinerant gathering is held at a continually evolving roster of dining establishments straddling Dade & Broward counties. Every person or couple brings a bottle of wine, masked by a paper bag or other wrapper, which they think would be interesting to share with the group during dinner. Unless you thrive on verbal abuse, no white zinfandel, please.
Depending on the group's size and earnestness, sometimes we have a serious discussion and analysis of the wines. More often than not, we just drink them.Our original ground rules remain - three topics are verboten for discussion on Monday LaBORatory nights - sports, religion and politics. If you feel compelled to raise any of these topics, please come back on Tuesday. All other subjects are fair game.
Guests, spouses and designated drivers are welcome and encouraged. It's about as much fun as you can legally have on a Monday night.Feel free to forward this invitation to your friends so that the circle of LaBORatory Night victims, errr, participants, continues to expand.
If this announcement has been forwarded to you by a friend, and you would like to be notified directly for future LaBORatory Night gatherings, or if you would like to be removed from this list, please email grapewiz@aol.com
Your support of LaBORatory Night is always greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
