BOURBON STEAK, a Michael Mina restaurant, is proud to present the first menu in the start of a monthly wine dinner series to be held the second Tuesday of every month through December 2009. On July 14, gourmands will enjoy a four-course gourmet dinner created specially by new Executive Chef Gabriel Fenton and paired with fine wines hand-selected by Sommelier Matthew Turner. Menu highlights include an asparagus soup with Peekytoe crab and Meyer lemon to start, Alaskan halibut served over baby squash, black olive and preserved lemon, New York steak pavé with fingerling potatoes, cipollini onions and a foie gras emulsion, and Mina’s signature beignets accompanied by a Valrhona chocolate pot de crème. Dishes will incorporate herbs and spices picked fresh that day from the on-site chef’s garden.
Wine selections include a 2004 Schlumberger Riesling Les Princes Abbés from France, a 2005 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc from California, a 2005 Lancaster Estate Sophia’s Hillside Cuvee from California and a Taylor Fladgate 10-year old Tawny from Portugal.
