EVENT DETAILS:
Explore different restaurants each month while getting to know other singles in the age group of your choice . . . so even if there's no love connection you'll still have a wonderful time. You'll order off the menu and receive separate checks for your purchases. Our website allows you to view the profiles of those registered for each dinner, tracks who you've dined with so you meet new people every time, and then let's you send a private message to those you've dined with afterward.

For current space availability, to see who's going, and to register please visit our website at www.TastyDC.com.

Please register early. Schedules are announced three to six weeks in advance, seats are filled on a first come first filled basis, and dinners close three to seven days in advance. Occasionally, space opens up last minute, but this cannot be relied upon, so register early for best results.

This week join us at 701:

"Situated “next to the Navy Memorial”, this “classy” Penn Quarter New American is a “solid standby” offering “a steal” of a pre-theater menu, a “hip” bar for sipping “well-crafted cocktails” and a patio where you can “people-watch along Pennsylvania Avenue”; new chef Bobby Varua “has done some great things with the menu” (which may outdate the above Food score), and the nightly live music helps to “spice up” the atmosphere.- Zagat.com

"A major shift in culinary focus has turned this restaurant-as-nightclub-as-restaurant into one of DC’s must-go fine dining destinations, as chic as a New York nightclub in Manhattan’s heyday of high society. When executive chef Bobby Varua appeared, the kitchen took on special polish with his inventive and rather playful plating and recipe compositions. Keeping in tune with the seasons, Varua insists that each dish must conform to a plate’s design or color, and from there he creates such appetizers as a chilled lobster salad dappled with a wasabi-green apple crème fraîche, or a crab salad starring crab meat atop melon marinated in lemonade and the whole garnished with a wispy sesame seed-studded lavash. As for entrées, don’t miss out on his so-called “surf and turf,” a whimsy of Muscovy duck breast glazed with chimichurri and paired with a seafood mousseline. Our favorite? That could be the roasted rockfish in its drizzle of colorful oils or the filet mignon on a bed of sautéed spinach and accompanied by a sweet potato mousse baked in a hollowed beef bone. The restaurant’s pastry chef puts an exclamation point at the end of the meal with fantasy desserts, such as the chocolate confection gâteau Basque, the almond custard layer cake embellished with a Morello cherry compote, and the coconut and kaffir lime tapioca pudding accented with basil sorbet. You can almost envision Grace Kelly and Cary Grant dining in the corner while listening to the live piano. Instead, chances are you’ll spot a power player down from the Hill for a splash of elegance. Note: the restaurant’s wine bar features more than 200 selections from around the world." - Gayot.com
