The Victoria Wine Society continues its
2009/2010 tasting series on Sunday, July 12 at 3:00 pm with a very
special afternoon of Champagne and food at Brasserie L’ecole. “The Champagne tasting has become a highly anticipated event, as much for the excellent lineup of wines we pour as Brasserie L’ecole chef Sean Brennan’s perfectly matched dishes that accompany them,” says Victoria Wine Society President Glenn Barlow. The Champagne-focused tasting is the first of two Victoria Wine Society events that will be held at Brasserie L’ecole, 1715 Government St, and feature Chef Brennan’s culinary creations. The majority of the wines will be from France’s Champagne region and will include: Montaudon Brut, Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rosé, Taittinger Prelude Grand Cru Brut, Henry Billiot Fils Brut 2002, Duval-Leroy Femme 1996, as well as a Franciacorta (made in the traditional Champagne style) from Italy’s Lombardy region. Annual VWS memberships ($25 per person; $35 per couple) are available at BC Wineguys (2579 Cadboro Bay Road, 250-592-8466) and Cook St. Village Liquor Store (109 – 230 Cook Street, 250-995-2665). |
