Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Scottsdale is inviting wine lovers on a safari. Wine manager Tammy Bowen will lead guests through an exploration of taste and discovery of wines from South African winery Graham Beck on Friday, July 10. The dinner will include four courses prepared by Chef Partner Steve Butler to compliment the wines. The menu includes Oxtail Gnocchi paired with Graham Beck, Cabernet Sauvignon Gamekeepers Reserve Robertson, 2007; and either Elk or Buffalo Tenderloin with Truffle and Parmesan Cottage Fries paired with Graham Beck, Pinotage Robertson, 2006. Bowen explains the South African selections are serious wines deserving of the untraditional game. “Once guests try the Pinotage, they will understand that anything less than these unique meats just wouldn’t stand up to its different flavor.” South Africa is a relatively new and undiscovered wine region, and Bowen says this is a plus for guests. “We’re always looking for wine’s hidden treasures at Fleming’s,” she says. “Because South Africa is not as well known, its wines are a wonderful value.
