Artist Website Sunday July 12th A Paul Chasman concert is a celebration of penetrating musicality, technical mastery, and high humor. He explores influences in jazz, classical, blues, bluegrass, ragtime, and rock, along with a sampling of his own compositions which draw from all his musical and life experiences. Paul typically plays four guitars in performance, each one facilitating a different aspect of his broad range. A Paul Chasman concert is truly A One-Man Guitar Festival. About the Lavender Wine: Both the grapes and the lavender were harvested on the Olympic Peninsula. 2008 was an extremely cool spring and summer on the North Olympic Peninsula. The grapes in our local vineyards were sparse and didn't ripen. I had to face the reality that we would not be bottling a third local vintage after contacting many of the vineyards in the Puget Sound Appellation. Then I received a call from Gerard Bentryn from Bainbridge Island Vineyards offering me a small Muller-Thurgau allocation. Hallelujah! Mueller-Thurgau is another example of the cool weather grapes that can grow in Western Washington. Barrel fermented in older oak, this crisp, light-bodied wine has a distinctive personality with a beautiful floral bouquet to complement the green apple notes and tropical fruit flavors. While terroir is more frequently linked with grape growing regions and defines the special characteristics that geography has bestowed on them. Our local terroir also produces premium quality lavender. The blend of the two, grapes and lavender, in this new wine is a marriage of visions. Twelve years ago Sequim’s Lavender Farms were just a vision… now a flourishing industry attracting international focus and visitors. Our new vision is grape vineyards on the Peninsula producing wine from cool weather varietal grapes that will pair with our local Olympic Coast Cuisine. The wine is in limited supply and will be sold at the winery during Lavender Festival. |
