First, let’s be straight about blends. ALL wines are blends of some sort whether it’s vineyards, grapes, years or whatever that are blended. What we will be doing here is looking at pairs of wines one of which will be a pure varietal expression (i.e. made solely from 1 grape variety) while the other will be fashioned from that same variety but blended with the wine from another as well. You may like the “straight” or you might prefer the “blend”.  But you will definitely learn why at this seminar. The grapes we will deal with – straight – are Syrah, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Chardonnay.
