Linden says:
If Château d’Yquem is a king of Sauternes, then Climens is queen, for its Barsac femininity. It can be dramatic in great vintages, but never suffers from the ponderous heaviness Sauternes sometimes exhibits. Equally, when a poor vintage delivers a write off across the district, Climens rises to the challenge and almost always delivers something. Mostly, it is an elegant, charming, beautiful wine.

I have been collecting Climens avidly since the last Fine Wine Experience vertical of this château in 2004. I have so many interesting bottles now that I have decided to focus this tasting on vintages pre-dating the Lurton purchase in 1971. These 15 mature vintages will deliver Climens’ full range of expressions: 1966, 1964, 1962, 1961, 1953, 1952, 1949, 1948, 1947, 1942, 1937, 1924, 1922, 1920, 1918.
