Linden says: It’s been five years since The Fine Wine Experience put on a Chateau Montrose vertical. These are wines that require patience. The 1989, then and now a favourite of mine, is still in its infancy, while recent bottles of the 1970 have shown wonderful fruit and intensity, drinking à point. This is firm, masculine Bordeaux, but not the caricature of St.-Estephe that is two dimensionally so – Montrose shows real proportion and depth and deserves its 2nd growth status. Our vertical covers many of the vintages in which Montrose is considerered particularly special, and takes us back to a rare trio from that great Bordeaux decade, the 1920s.
