The Magic Is Back: Symphonic Music Returns to Harkness Park.
The mission of SoundMusic is to design, promote and perform outdoor concerts.
The first in the series is titled Made in America, New Haven Symphony Orchestra in residence and will include Fanfare for the Common Man- Aaron Copeland; Appalachian Spring- Aaron Copeland; The Red Violin: Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Sherry Kloss, Soloist; Symphony No. 8- Antonin Dvorak; The Stars and Stripes Forever- John Phillip Sousa
Music Director Martin Piecuch has conducted over 2,000 performances of symphony, opera and musical theater. The orchestras and performing companies he has led have delighted audiences all over the world from Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C. to Seoul, Korea and Moscow, Russia.
Other concerts: July 25 Benny Goodman Centennial Tribute, Celebrating Mr. Goodman's 100th Birthday. Swing dancing under the starts with opening diversions by Martin Piecuch and Ron Murray.
August 1, Mostly Mozart, New Haven Symphony Orchestra in Residence.
