July 24, 2009 (Fri)
from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
Chicago, IL
Cost: $45.00 per person
Event ID #255187
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the most famous wines on the planet. Part of its charm is its history; but part of it lies in its complexity as well. Under the law it can me made from over a dozen different grape varieties. Each of those in the average “Pape’s” blend brings something, literally, to the table, be it color, acidity, texture, perfume or what have you. We will taste a good Pape to start out with and then taste other southern French wines made mostly or entirely from Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Counoise and others to show what each grape adds to the whole.
This session will take place at The Wine Consortium (110 E 23rd St just of Michigan Avenue and a few steps from McCormick Place West)
