Co-hosted by Dorothy Hamilton, Founder and CEO of The French Culinary Institute, and Gillian Duffy, Culinary Editor of New York magazine, t he second-annual “New York Culinary Experience” will take place October 3-4, 2009 at The French Culinary Institute in New York.
It is the only culinary event of its kind that gives attendees the chance to cook hands-on and side-by-side with the most prominent chefs in the country. This year’s participating chefs include Jean-Georges Vongerichten of Jean-Georges; Jonathan Benno of Per Se; Dean of The French Culinary Institute, Jacques Pepin; Paul Liebrandt of Corton; Scott Conant of Scarpetta; Cesare Casella of Salumeria Rosi and Dean of The Italian Culinary Academy; “Iron Chef” winner Morimoto; and master chocolatier Jacques Torres, also Dean of Pastry at The French Culinary Institute.
A limited number of tickets for the hands-on event are now available. The cost for the weekend is $1,395 per ticket and includes classes, breakfast, lunch, a closing reception each day, and a special appearance by a surprise guest -- a renowned chef featured on one of TV’s most popular cooking shows.
A select number of guests will also have the option of attending an exclusive and intimate dinner prepared by one of the country’s most esteemed chefs. Proceeds from the dinner will support The Future Chefs Scholarship, a program established by New York magazine and The FCI to provide scholarships for students who wish to pursue their dream of attending culinary school.
