Germany—the home of great Riesling and so much
more—has been making some of the world’s most prized wines since Roman times. Riesling is now enjoying an international resurgence in popularity because many wine lovers have become weary of white wine that tastes like canned fruit and crave wines with more zip to them. No wine on the planet has more natural acidity than German Riesling, and that is what makes them so wonderful to drink. That, and their deliciousness! Tonight we learn about Germany’s pradikat classification system of ripeness: Kabinett, Spätlese and Auslese, and we sample all three, looking for changes in sweetness and body. We also explore the different types of astonishingly good dry wines, made not only from Riesling, but Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Riesling remains the world’s most versatile (and long-lived) white wine, wonderful to drink with ham, turkey, chicken and seafood. You will rarely experience an evening more satisfying than this class. SEATING LIMITED—RESERVATIONS REQUIRED |
