Boston Wine School ~ Dude, Where's My Carneros?
July 2, 2009 (Thu)
from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Allston, MA
Cost: $50
Event ID #252567
Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley come together at San Pablo Bay in a region known as Carneros. If you go wine touring out of San Francisco, it's the first place you come to, and most people just keep driving to the more famous parts of Napa and Sonoma. Of course, it's also the last region you come to on your way back to the city, and after a whole day of wine tasting, you're saying "Just get me back to the hotel!" Carneros is overlooked by wine tourists, and that makes it one of the nicest places to visit in all of California wine country. Since it's so close to the Pacific, it's the coolest part of both Napa and Sonoma, and the Pinot Noir from there is especially prized for perfume and delicacy. Class will experience crisp, dry, almost French style Chardonnays from Carneros. There's more than fragrant Pinot to the reds, and we'll taste some surprises too: Cab that tastes like Bordeaux, classy red Zinfandel, and the Merlot that might never have been.
