Park Chalet Hosts “We Love Ocean Beach” Family Concerts

Saturday, July 11th and Saturday, July 25th from 3:00 to 5:00 pm

The July 11th headliner will be Frances England (http://www.francesengland.com/).

The July 25th headliner will be Charity and the JAMband (http://www.jamjamjam.com).

These kid friendly music events staged by professional children’s entertainers will raise money for preservation of San Francisco’s Ocean Beach via the Surfrider Foundation through a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. Each donation will also enter the person in a raffle with prizes that will include dining gift certificates and Beach Chalet merchandise.

The “We Love Ocean Beach” concerts will take place at Park Chalet’s outdoor lawn area which is nestled in Golden Gate Park, right behind the Beach Chalet and across the road from Ocean Beach. Complementing the musical entertainment will be the availability of the Park Chalet’s outdoor BBQ menu which includes burgers, sausages and oysters. There will also be local vendors selling beach and children inspired crafts and wares.

The concept of “We Love Ocean Beach” family concerts was inspired by the Charity and the JAMband single, "Beach", a tribute to beaches everywhere (http://www.jamjamjam.com/s_b.html). The song recounts fantastical happenings like a wave you can ride all the way to the Arctic Ocean, dolphins that jump over the moon, and a sand castle that "grew so tall way up into the clouds and all around the world a hundred million times." The song culminates in a "magical, groovy night" spent on the beach surrounded by friends playing, singing and dancing. The JAMband will unveil a special Ocean Beach-ified sing-along version for the summer concert, with a chorus refrain, "We Love Ocean Beach!"

The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans and beaches. Founded in 1984, the Foundation has over 50,000 members with 1,200 in San Francisco Bay Area. (http://www.sfsurfrider.org/about/index.htm)
