Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

Join us as we turn the tried-and-true method of food and wine pairing on its head. Anyone can choose a wine to compliment their favorite dish, but what about preparing dishes designed specifically to bring out best in your beloved bottles? In this four-hour, hands-on class we’ll do just that. As we unravel the mysteries behind the fascinating world of wine and food matching you’ll learn some key recipes made to highlight the very best and most interesting qualities in each grape variety or style of wine. What’s more, you’ll learn how vastly those grapes and wine styles transform from place to place and how to choose the varieties that best suit both your menu and your palate!

This class focuses on the white wines of summer. We’ll taste some time-honored warm weather whites like Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling, and VinhoVerde and then venture into uncharted territory with Torrontes, Assyrtiko, Txakoli, and others! Whether familiar hot weather quaffs or newly discovered favorites, they’re all perfectly complimented by the foods of summer.

When the weather warms up we often turn to grilling outdoors so as not to heat up the house, or find ways to compose an entire meal without turning on the oven at all. We’ll liven up your summer menus by creating New England Crab Cakes with Curried Mayonnaise, Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho, Branzino en Papillote with Fresh Herbs, Capers, and Olives, Fresh Green Beans with Garlic and Lemon Zest, and a Summer Fruit Tart with Pastry Cream.
