Pure Mendocino, a weekend celebration of the vibrant, healthy community that benefits from the region’s organic and Biodynamic farms, will celebrate its 5th anniversary this year with a new 2-day schedule. On Saturday, August 29th, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., Paul Dolan will host an alfresco wine dinner at his Biodynamic Dark Horse Vineyard above the Talmage Bench. Prepared by Chef Craig Strattman of Ukiah’s Patrona Bistro & Wine Bar, the $135 per person five-course dinner will be paired with a diverse range of Mendocino County organically and biodynamically grown wines. On Sunday, August 30th, The Apple Farm will be showcased at an afternoon of food and wine tasting that includes a silent auction and a farm tour led by hosts Tim and Karen Bates. Tickets are $40 per person. Both events feature locally grown or wild-harvested organic and Biodynamic cheese, meats and produce, all complemented by wines from 100% of Mendocino County’s organic and Biodynamic wineries: Barra of Mendocino, Bonterra Vineyards, Chance Creek Winery, Frey Vineyards, Golden Vineyards, Graziano Family of Wines, Handley Cellars, Jeriko Estate and Winery, LeVin Winery, Lolonis Winery, Masut Vineyards, McFadden Vineyard, Mendocino Farms, Oster Vineyards, Patianna Organic Vineyards, Paul Dolan Vineyards, Saracina Vineyards, Terra Savia, and Yorkville Cellars. Among the highlights of the auction are an original painting by Julie Higgins, specifically created for Pure Mendocino, select wines and other priceless treasures hand-crafted by local artisans. “Pure Mendocino is an exploration and celebration of the healthy community created around our region’s sustainable, organic and Biodynamic farms, vineyards and ranches,” said Sara O'Donnell, Executive Director of the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County. “It’s a unique celebration of life and hope that has educated the public while supporting the efforts of the Cancer Resource Center, raising to date more than $150,000,” she said. The funds are the bedrock needed to finance ongoing services at no cost to the community. For more information and registration, visit www.puremendocino.org or telephone (800) 449-6483.
