“Pinot noir is one of the world’s most famous grapes,” says Skiptunis. “It is usedeverywhere—from Burgundy to California, Oregon and the Finger Lakes. And it comes in many different styles—rich and earthy, delicate and fruity. There may be no other grape that is quite so diverse. On June 29 we will taste four Pinot Noirs, side by side, and unlock some of the mystery of this famous grape. And, of course, our chef will be preparing some special dishes to accompany the tasting.”
The tasting will include both domestic and imported Pinot Noirs. Among the selections are: Ponzi, Pinot Noir, Willamettte Valley, Oregon; Faively, Bourgogne Rouge, Burgundy, France; Hunterdon, Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, California; and Torlese, Pinot Noir, Canterbury, New Zealand.
Bistro Ten 18 is a neighborhood bistro with an eclectic menu in a wide range of prices. The restaurant was established in 2001 and has received recognition for its outstanding wine list from the Monterey Wine Festival and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence “for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.” For a reservation for the tasting, call 212-662-7600.
