France, the motherland of wine: it's where many grapes call home, where most styles of wine were INVENTED (hello, Bordeaux blends, sparkling wine, Burgundian pinot noir, GSMs...), plus, France is still the world's biggest exporter of wine.
In short, learning about French wine provides a crucial building block to knowing about ALL wine. Also, you'll find it helpful to have France broken down by region to better understand the myriad AOCs, Chateaus, Premier Crus, First Growths, Appellations, etc.
Each class will be taught by a different wine professional. This very knowledgeable group has a combined 100+ years experience in the biz. The instructors will use maps and other literature to explain numerous elements of each region including, but not limited to: history, climate, grapes, viticulture, vinification, terroir, and French wine law. Lest us not forget the tasting! Five to eight wines will be featured in each class.
Cheese and crackers will be served.
Classes can be purchased individually or at a discounted $120 for the 7-class package (basically, buy 6 classes, get the 7th free!).
Class 1: Champagne - Tuesday, June 2nd
Class 2: Loire - Tuesday, June 9th
