LEARN ABOUT THE GREAT WINES OF THE RHONE!

Join TasteDC for an Introduction to French Wine focusing on the wines of the Rhone!
The
Rhone is probably the most diverse wine region in France
. The region produces prodigious
Syrah in the North, Grenache in the South and a blend of varietals that make this Region unique.
Wine produced includes full-body red wines of Cote Rotie in the north and Chateauneuf du Pape
in the south to the exquisite white wine of Condrieu and Chateau Grillet and the fruity red
wines of Crozes Hermitage and of the southern
Rhone
region. This region exploded in recognition
once international wine experts realized that the regions wines can be both powerful and elegant.
Join TasteDC and our highly qualified speaker Kirby Pope, (Please see his Bio below), as we
taste and learn about these wonderful wines. We will taste and cover in this class:

-The taste and unique "terroir" of this region,
-How appellation and vineyard location effect the final wine,
-Wine and food pairing, from a Sommelier's point of view,
-The best producers and where to find their wines in our area,
-Finding Rhone values
You will taste from 6 to 8 wines in this class
Please note: no prior wine knowledge is required for this event.
Bread, crackers and cheese will be served with the wines as palate cleansers only.
