Wine OR Wine & Food Event

Wine OR Wine & Food

In the easternmost region of Croatia, in the fertile Ilok and Srijem wine country, the best treasured traditions are those in viticulture and wine production. One of the customs is to celebrate the beginning of the harvest in the vineyards in the event called “pudarina”. That custom grew to become the oldest cultural, tourist and business event in Slavonia – “Ilok grape harvest”. This happening takes place from September 1, 2008 to September 7, 2008.

The program of event includes many different happenings- culture, vine, ethno&heritage, entertainment, concerts and sports happening.

Combine it with the wine road of Ilok, which is particularly interesting, and definitely different from what typical wine roads have to offer because almost all the wineries are concentrated in the town. The wineries, cellars and family wine farms differ in production tradition, assortment and cellar type (old cellars in the hills or beneath houses versus new and modern wineries).

To get a special experience of the wine route or a part of it, take a tour of it on the tourist train of "Ilok cellar" wine company (“Iločki podrumi)
