This Friday starts the weekend for Dad. Katie has come up with a great selection of wines that the old man will love and go perfect with his grilled meat. I mean it will be Fathers Day and us dad's are expected to grill.

This tasting is about power, elegance and grace...just like dad.

2016 Pazo de Seoane Rosal - Yellow with green hues; very bright. Intensely aromatic, with citrus notes of orange zest together set against a tropical background of pineapples, grapefruit and custard apples. Varietal aromas are also prominent, particularly pears, apples and melon together with perceptible floral hints. Fresh and vibrant on the palate, with very good structure and a long, silky, fruit-laden finish.

2011 Aster Crianza - Intense, deep, dark-cherry red; clean and bright. The still glass evinces penetrating aromas, with outstanding balsamic, spicy notes of fine wood. After swirling, these lead to intense notes of dark forest berries, ripe blueberries and blackberries, against a background of black pepper, licorice, cloves and roasted coffee. Broad structure, balanced acidity and elegant, fine, ripe tannins. Aftertaste with spicy notes of wood, cloves and black pepper.
The 2011 Aster is a reflection of the power and elegance of the Ribera del Duero, which pairs well with old cheese, roasts and big game.

2011 Podere Scopetone Brunello di Montalcino - Grilled herb, forest floor, scorched earth, cured meat and menthol aromas lead the way. The ripe palate offers juicy wild cherry, fleshy black raspberry, cinnamon, pipe tobacco and a confectionary note alongside firm, enveloping tannins. It's already accessible and will make fine near- to mid-term drinking.

2011 Latium Morini Valpolicella Ripasso Campo dei Ciliegi - Intense garnet in colour with ripe cherries, herby and earthy aromas. A warm and dry sour cherry palate in the fore, with loads of intensity of raisins and sultanas and a rich fresh soft tannic finish.

2011 Chateau Rollan de By - The grape varieties planted are dominated by Merlot, providing wines with a fat and rounded character and the meticulous ageing magnifies all of their complexity.

Now...Go pick up some meat so dad can toss it on the grill.
