Although Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon plantings represent about 20% of the county’s vineyards, the region is more famous for its Pinot Noir and Zinfandel. This perhaps has something to do with the preponderance of Bordeaux varieties planted in Sonoma’s behemoth next door neighbor, Napa. We’d be well-served to notice the exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon found in this more pastoral area of California wine country. And, these Cabs usually offer a (much…) better value for apples-to-apples quality. We’ll explore several of Sonoma’s districts, including the Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Mountain, and Knights Valley. You can look forward to different expressions of Cab from Beringer, Louis Martini, Alexander Valley Vineyards, Rodney Strong, Laurel Glen, and several more. Hey – this tasting is a fine way to celebrate International Women’s Day!
