Wines of the Rhone Valley
Wednesday, March 14th
Trapp Family Lodge Wine Cellar
The Rhone Valley has been producing wine since around 600 BC.
Production dropped significantly when Rome pulled out of the region but rose again when the Anti-Popes set up shop in Avignon in the 13th century. The Duke of Burgundy was so threatened by the success of Rhone valley wines that he forbade their import into his region calling them “very small and miserable wines.”
He was wrong of course.
The Rhone Valley continues to produce big, voluptuous reds as well as full bodied interesting whites.
We will taste 2 whites and 3 reds.
Price is $20. Please call or see the front desk to place reservations. 802 253-5742. Doors open @ 4:00. I suggest you arrive no later than 5:00 to avoid feeling rushed. People come and go during the tasting which is an informal walk around format. We end at 6:00
