Ocean Blue Catering continues a tradition with the presentation of the annual South African Wine Dinner on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Guests of honor are none other than Mystic Aquarium’s African penguins. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sold benefits Mystic Aquarium’s mission programs of conservation, education and research. Join in efforts to help save the endangered African penguin populations while enjoying a multi-course meal paired with exotic South African wines.
Held among the exquisite sea life of Mystic Aquarium’s main gallery, the evening opens with a cocktail hour showcasing African penguins. The menu will feature appetizers and Excelsior followed by a delightful salad and Indeba. The plated dinner will include roasted chicken with monkey gland sauce served with sweet potato cake, baby squash, and a harmonizing Curator Red. A dessert of melktert with banana fritters and caramel sauce and a Nedelberg wine will be served.
While African penguins are a fan favorite, their presence at Mystic Aquarium is important to the survival of this endangered species. Mystic Aquarium is proud to be a founding member of the African penguin Species Survival Plan (SSP) and is uniquely positioned and qualified to operate in the cooperative animal management program which makes breeding and transfer recommendations, ensuring the long-term survival of the species in AZA accredited zoos and aquariums.
