Nebbiolo is thought to derive its name from the Italian word nebbia which means "fog." During harvest, which generally takes place late in October, a deep, intense fog sets into the Langhe region where many Nebbiolo vineyards are located.
Nebbiolo is the king of Italian wines. It is the grape used to make Barolo and Barbaresco; these are among the greatest wines in the world. Intense flavors and tannic in youth, these wines develop great complexity and will age decades in the bottle. For this tasting we will taste a variety of wines made from 100% Nebbiolo from three distinct areas in Northern Italy. If you enjoy this grape as much as we do this is one not to miss.
Winery format stop in at your leisure to enjoy the flight.
Wines to taste:
Mamete Prevostini Nebbiolo, “Botonero” IGT
Rosso dei Dardi, 100% Nebbiolo
Piero Benevelli Nebbiolo, Langhe
