The Rhône River is the dominating feature of dozens of distinct wine appellations, making its way through the length of France to empty into the Mediterranean. The famous Grenache based red wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras can vary wildly in style from producer to producer. Even more fascinating is the diversity of style and quality within the basic Côtes-du-Rhône appellation, which can be red, white, or rosé, and can range from a simple bistro wine to a grand vin. We will give you the “cheat sheet” on the Côtes-du-Rhône that drink like a Châteauneuf-du-Pape, wines of different styles from the same appellation, and the best wines from our favorite producers, age-worthy rosé from Tavel, and the rare white Côtes-du-Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
