EVENT DETAILS:
Each week on Thursdays and Fridays, the Old Town Wine Cellar holds a tasting event from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (or a little later if people are still coming through the door). Proprietor Mike Shelhamer pours a selection of one ounce pours of six different wines for $5.00. Or for the same $5.00, one can choose a six ounce pour of just one of the six wines. Mike also pours one "premium" wine during the tasting. However, only a six ounce pour of the "premium" wine is offered and costs $10.00. The wines featured at each week's tastings can be regularly stocked wines that have not been previously poured, new arrivals, or brand new vintages of long-time "old favorites" (past vintages of which have previously been poured), or any combination of the above. Selections include both whites and reds and sometimes pinks, a sparkling wine, and/or a dessert wine. Over 500 wines from every wine producing region in the world are stocked at The Cellar and the tastings are often an eclectic mixture of "old world" and "new world" wines from not only the U.S. but other familiar and not so familiar countries from around the world. On occasion the tasting will revolve around a "theme", i.e. "Summer Sippers", "Thanksgiving Wines", "Red Wine With Fish ?", etc. The climate controlled "Cellar" is the "coolest" place in town (in more ways than one !). And Arizona's largest newspaper, The Arizona Republic, has declared the Old Town Wine Cellar as "a must visit spot" for local and visiting wine lovers alike. Drop in, enjoy a few dollops of fine wine, browse a bit, and talk wine to your heart's content with Mike and/or lots of fellow wine lovers.
