| The FAB FOUR - Reds Course includes classes on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Syrah - four varieties that are increasingly popular and more and more widely planted around the world.
Each of the four classes will focus on one grape variety, its distinctive qualities, and its principal expressions in the world. For instance, one evening we will taste Pinot Noirs from Burgundy, New Zealand, Australia, California, and Oregon. Comparative tasting will highlight various styles from these old world and new world regions and wine makers, as well as underlying similarities. To clarify better the distinctive Pinot Noir characteristics, we will do a blind tasting that matches a Pinot Noir with two of the other international varieties.
Eight or more wines will be tasted each evening. The classes on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot will include comparisons of the well-known Bordeaux blends alongside blends from the New World.
This Fall 2008 course starts May 4th at the Hilton Rye Town Hotel, in Rye Brook, on Westchester Avenue just off Interstates 287 and 95. The course meets on four consecutive Monday evenings. Missed classes can be made up at a later date.
In an enjoyable, interactive, and educational atmosphere, class participants are encouraged to explore their own preferences and appreciation of wine. Open to anyone who wants to spend an evening having fun, drinking good wines, and learning a lot. |
