EVENT DETAILS:

An extended weekend (Jan. 8-11, 2009) of classic and new food films combined with special dinners and brunches at some of the best restaurants in Tucson. The 4th annual Tucson Slow Food and Film Festival will feature the movies Dinner Rush (starring Danny Aiello); Bottle Shock (California wine growers surprise French experts at a blind tasting) and Ratatouille (an Academy Award winner, already an animated food film classic). There will be two dinners: a gala opening at Primo, JW Marriott Starr Pass' award winning Italian restaurant, including grilled swordfish, pork saltimbocca, chicken alla Milanese, wine, and at Elle with a French-inspired 3-course meal (including ratatouille) and wine pairings. There will be two special brunches: Vin Tabla, combining poached eggs, roasted salmon & pumpkin waffle with wines; and Acacia gala closing brunch with locally raised Wagyu Beef, local produce and local wines. In addition, 9 new films will be screened (documentaries, features, shorts and animation) from more than 50 submitted from around the world. There will be world, regional and local premieres. Special discount rates are available for purchases (sorry no credit cards accepted), including 4 Day Passes, 2+2 packages (select 2 meal & 2 film events). As has been true in the past, the festival will be a grand combination of food, film, culture and tradition with film makers on hand to answer questions and discuss their interest in food and film.
