ow!  The fourteenth annual Zinfandel Dinner.  It’s one of our most anticipated and well attended dinners, attracting dedicated enthusiasts who love the idea of American wine making, diverse styles and hearty and sophisticated red wines as well as those who are just beginning to explore the wide world of Zinfandel.  Over the years, we’ve had bins of remarkable wines in a range of styles.  Everyone comes away with their favorite.  This all red wine dinner includes eight California Zinfandels in three major styles, all selected by Michael Sautkulis of Merritt Wines. The first pair, from Sonoma County, show a lighter fresh and fruity style. Second, also from Sonoma, California’s premier Zinfandel area, is a more elegant and refined pair. Third are the big, bold and jammy wines from the warmer regions of Amador County and Paso Robles.  We’ll start with an Italian Primitivo, the European ancestor of Zinfandel and finish with a late harvest dessert Zin.  Ridge, Four Vines and Dashe are some of the familiar names but there are plenty of new discoveries too like Spann, Mill Creek and Orchard Hill.  These wines are fascinating and represent some of the best value in California wine today.  Michael Sautkulis will lead the discussion of the wines.  Please join innkeepers Frank and Marsha Whitman for an evening of special wines and a delicious Fall Harvest menu by Chef Matt Stein.  Join us for this for the fourteenth annual review of the world of Zinfandel!
